Threads inherited a photographic sensibility from the app it was grafted onto. Because accounts are tied to Instagram, the people who arrived were already in the habit of posting pictures, and the text feed filled with photography from its first week in a way a text-first network would not have.

The Instagram connection cuts both ways
Because a Threads account is tied to an Instagram one, switching that Instagram profile to private takes the Threads posts with it. A link that worked last week and fails today has frequently been affected by a change made on an entirely different app.
