Kwai is the international edition of Kuaishou, the Chinese short video platform that has been running since 2013. Where Kuaishou serves the domestic market, Kwai was built for everywhere else, and it found its strongest audiences in places the larger competitors were slower to reach.
Brazil in particular became a major market, along with much of Latin America and Indonesia. The app's character followed from that: less polished and metropolitan than its rivals, weighted towards everyday life, humour, music and small commerce rather than professionally produced content.
Like every app in the category it runs on a recommendation feed, which is excellent at finding you something new and almost useless for retrieving something specific. That gap is the ordinary reason people want to save a clip rather than trust that they will come across it again.

Why people save Kwai video
Forwarding is the everyday reason. A clip is wanted as a file so it can be sent to a family group or set as a status, neither of which works with a link to an app the recipient may not have.
Creators need their own work, particularly those posting the same material across several platforms at once, which requires the file and ideally a version without a watermark on it.
And the feed cannot be searched backwards in any useful way, so anything you might want a second time is worth taking the first time.

The clip or the account behind it has probably been removed. Prepared links also expire if the page sits open a long time.
Is saving from Kwai acceptable?
