Why the watermark cannot be removed
It is burned into the image. The branding is composited into the picture when the post is created, which means those pixels are the picture at that point — there is no separate layer sitting on top waiting to be switched off.
Everything that claims otherwise is destroying something. Cropping removes part of the image, blurring leaves an obvious smear, and the tools advertising AI removal are inventing pixels to fill the gap, which at meme resolutions looks worse than the watermark did.
